I had the opportunity to design much of the typography and branding for the 2007 - 2011 Billabong Pipe Masters surfing contests. Each year, Billabong chooses the art of an iconic illustrator or photographer to feature in the official imagery. Past artists include Phil Roberts, Aaron Chang, John Van Hamersveld, Bill Ogden, and Brian Bielmann.
The designs shown below were used for the contest booth, event poster, store window displays, live contest video broadcast, advertising, t-shirts, hats, and other product. The typography was also used each year on the highly coveted winner's trophy, which is a surfboard hand-shaped by Pipeline Legend Gerry Lopez.

2011
The main imagery for 2011 features four time Pipe Masters winner Andy Irons, photographed by Brian Bielmann. The contest is now held in honor of Andy, who tragically passed away in 2010.
Multiple typographic styles were created to be used on t-shirts and hats to supplement the main contest imagery.
2010
The official illustration for the 2010 poster was painted by artist Bill Ogden.
Frenchman Jeremy Flores was the winner of the 2010 trophy surfboard shaped by Pipeline Legend Gerry Lopez. This amazing collaboration features an illustration of Gerry surfing in his heyday, painted by Phil Roberts. Phil based this illustration on a well known photograph by Jeff Divine. The rails and entire bottom side of this one of a kind surfboard are covered in gold leaf.

The official design for 2008 features a photo of Pipeline by surf photographer, Aaron Chang.
2007
The illustration for 2007 was a mind-blowing painting by Phil Roberts.
The graphics in this project were mocked up using T-Shirt Templates #02 and T-Shirt Squares to make them appear to be printed on T-Shirts
